I'm located in Fulton County (NW Ohio) and I'm trying to setup a Quick Key group in my 996T for utilities. I've got everything working except for Ohio Gas. I have the frequency info from the FCC through RR but all I get is a sputtering squelch on a couple of frequencies. It sounds like FSK would sound if it was spread across several channels. Does anyone here know what this is and/or what frequencies they use for voice. I'm assuming they are analog.

No answers yet on my question so I went out this morning with Garmella. I programed in the license coordinates and then went to all three location in Williams and Fulton counties. The Bryan (Williams county) location is an engineering and operations office according to the sign. There is a fairly tall tower with several antennas, two look like VHF Hi-band and a yagi UHF pointing west. The locations in Archbold and Wauseon (Fulton Co.) are either in error or the don't exist anymore. I'm beginning to think that they are using cell phones for dispatching. If I stumble across one of their service guys, I'll stop and ask.

The data bursts are probably information being sent to and from valves, flow monitors, and such. You will probably see yagis at locations with that type of equipment.

I think I've discovered the proper frequency for Ohio Gas. They dispatch on 153.590 MHz, simplex, no PL tone. All of the UHF frequencies are data channels used to monitor unmanned pump stations, etc. as mdulrich stated. For some reason, the VHF frequency was locked out in my scanner and that is why I wasn't hearing any traffic.
