bought it online from azaom said it wsas for the bc396t. will have to check the com port.
Which cable are you using, the original Uniden USB-1? Is it new or did you get it with the BCD396T?
Look in your Windows device manager to see if the cable has a COM port assigned to it.
thanks will have to check that all I did was plug it in and hit the upload button{edit} The best way to tell if the scanner is communicating with ProScan is looking at the virtual display.
Did you go to the Comm. Port menu in ProScan and set the comm. port? Click the Auto Detect button to see if the scanner shows in the list.
If it still doesn't work then check that the scanner PC Control is on? Go to the menu Settings - PC Control then set it to 115200 bps then hit the 'E' key then click Auto Detect button again
ProScan needs to know the comm port # of the scanner. Advise if it works or doesn't work.thanks will have to check that all I did was plug it in and hit the upload button

- Uniden USB Cable Drivers
You must install the following software driver for this USB cable, choose which one depending on your operating system listed below. These are also available through the Uniden.com web site.
Driver for Windows operating systems:
You must run this installer prior to plugging in the USB-1 cable. This installer creates the following driver on your system:
Important Windows 8 and 10 Information
The current Prolific Driver, as delivered through their web site and through Windows Update for Windows 8 and 10, will not work with older USB-1 cables that use the PL2303HXA chipset. To use these drivers you must have a current USB-1 cable that uses the PL2303HXD chipset. If your cable was bought before 2013 you need to buy a new cable.

proscan marion county florida fd as they are the only site not encryptedFrom what I can see, it appears that you didn't download the frequencies for the site you are trying to use. Notice its shows "0" for the frequencies? We all will get you there so don't fret too much. Its a learning experience. Once you get it, you got it! Specifically what system and what site are you trying to use so we can try and replicate it?

how can I tell all if says is uniden trunktracker IVThe scanner is showing as a BCD396XT
Do you have a BCD396XT and not a BCD396T? Can you go to the Test & Extra tab and look at the 1st line in the data returned from the scanner. Does it show MDL, BCD396T?
If you have a BCD396T connected then:
1. The scanner type needs changing to BCD396T
2. Make a new database with a different name
3. Go to the Database - Import menu then import the the BCD396XT file
Upload again.
