Hi. I have a old Realistic Pro 2023 base scanner. The scanner stops on the channel when there is a transmission but there is no audio. When I turn the squelch knob it does make noise. Can someone please help?

I have a 2021 unit that has been acting up with the audio also. My problem is with the volume control. I have to play with the knob a bit to get the audio to come through. I am sure its simply a worn out control. One of these days I am going to open it up and try cleaning the control. But odds are a new variable resister is going to be needed. You might want to try plugging in an external speaker and see if it might be just bad internal speaker. good luck

I programed in my local police. The frequency is in the 482 mhz range. I put my other scanner next to the Pro 2023 with the same frequency and when my handheld stops on the channel with the 482mhz so does the Pro 2023. The problem is, the Pro 2023 doesn't transmit the audio.

No. It's the same with all the frequencies that I programed into it.

Sound issue

I have a Pro 2020 that had been acting the same way. Started with the sound being really touchy then going all together. If your somewhat handy with a soldering iron you can replace the on/off volume pot and the squelch pot. Both parts are under $10 and are available at Radio Shack. The old part numbers for your 2023 are
VR502 10978674 POT,VARIABLE 100KA VOLUME/POWER/ON-OFF
VR501 10978682 POT,VAR 50KB RV-711 SQUELCH

I'd recommend pulling the old ones and bringing them, just unsolder the wires noting where the connected to the pots, pull the knobs and loosen the nut on the posts to remove the pots. Then take them with you to make sure the pots match up as radio shack is less then helpfull when it comes to looking for parts.

Audio and Squelch issue

That's what I get for reading the board while at work, I should of paid a little more attention. But my response remains the same except it's directed at two people.
1st - Greg1096 try replacing the volume pot
2nd - Dale25 when you adjust the squelch does it sometimes seem louder, more of a deep static noise and at other times fainter until you touch the knob. If so then try replacing the squelch pot.

Now that I have explained that better I'll go take my time out in the corner for not being attentive to details.

I don't think this is relevant.
