For the price I expected more.... I thought it was just my experience as my little SpectrumForce magnetic antenna on a pizza pan outside my window worked as well if not better than the OmniX suspended about 10ft higher from a tree limb...mounting options are few in an apartment lol

If you are only interested in 700 and 800 mhz monitoring you could do as previously mentioned with pizza time on mag mount style using a 3db or 5db mobile antenna that is specifically for that band

I have been using one for a few years for conventional vhf/uhf. Works very well in my location.....however after using it I kinda think its way over priced and performs slightly better than my Diamond Discone. Sucks above UHF though.

I've been using an Omni-X for almost 10 years now and I've been pretty pleased with it. Performance has been good to excellent for what I listen to. 144-950 MHz

It is an extremely well built antenna, and is just as good of shape as it was when I bought it.

It does seem to have some directional lobes, but after orientating properly for my setup it's performed well.

Just took the plunge. Looking forward to finally using a higher quality antenna, although I don't really know what else I need to hook it up to the BNC or SMA on my scanners. That's gonna require more research on my part.

I have one finally set up, It is about 40 feet in the air with LMR400 cable and everything like it is supposed to be. The best thing I can say about this OMNI-X is it is very light weight and very directional. I receive more Air traffic than I ever have, not really a good thing for me. But my local FD and PD stations are very poor. They use both 450 and 800 and they are very weak. Now if I go up and turn it some, it does get a little better, but not much. I am going back to my Diamond as soon as I can get some help taking it down. And 30 to 50 is non existent now and the 150 is very weak also. So after waiting for this to show up then getting help to mount it. Sure was not worth the money in my opinion.

That is to be expected as the antenna are not tuned to those bands and will then perform very poorly. "Tuned: 225-400, 118-137 & 138-140 MHz " Your frequency requirements are better served with a discone with a top element for VHF-LO.

The omni x is tuned for 225-900 mhz. Think your posting about Mil omni Ubbe. owl9704a posted about the omni x.

My mistake to assume it was the mil version. One of the dipole elements are tuned to 161MHz and should work well at 150-170MHz, at least compared to a discone. Maybe the antenna was turned to two directions that was not the optimum one. Contrary to its name it is not an omni antenna, it has some directivity and might even need to be used somewhat tilted. A discone are a true omni antenna and doesn't suffer from directivity problems.
