Vermont Sites are on the air, 71-77. I only logged the CC for 5 of them when I was out chasing radio signals yesterday but they up and running
73 - cc 451.2125
74 - cc 454.5750
75 - cc 451.6750
76 - cc 451.3000
77 - cc 454.6000

Neighbor listings show 71 & 72 are in service

I just looked at some new documentation on Connect Plus & see that the max number of sites is 250. I could have sworn I read somewhere that it was 70 (or something near there).

Damn, this system has the possibility to get HUGE!

From the Connect Plus System Planner:

Each site can support a maximum of 15 repeaters.
The maximum # of traffic slots on a system is 770.

Ex- On a 70 site system an average of 6 repeaters per site are supported.

On a maximum size system (250 sites), the average # of repeaters per site should not exceed 2.

These limits are not enforced, but it is strongly recommended not to go above it.

The sites I can receive typically have fewer than half their assigned frequencies active. Many sites have 454 MHz allocations but there is very little activity noted here on 454 MHz. The same 454 MHz frequencies are replicated on sites that are geographically close to each other. Is there some way the system coordinates usage of these duplicated frequencies among sites or are they just not used much?

454 frequencies were auctioned off and the winners get the block of spectrum in a large geographic area. The benefit is you are not limited to have one frequency at a specific site.
I suspect the reason they are in each site in this system is to be able to turn on a couple frequencies to accommodate a large new client or event without having to do a bunch of work other than putting a couple additional repeaters at the site and activating the additional channels in the programming.

From FCC records site 73 appears to be in Manchester, WQVJ903. I can just receive the control channel here and neighbors are 71 72 74 75 77. Color code is 1 and the control channel 451.2125 is LCN 01. There is one other frequency active in the site but I have not found it yet.

Site 75 is probably in Bennington and site 76 appears to be in Hinsdale, NH.

The locations were base on the same thing you did with the licenses. Site 73 I got the CC but did not get the LCN.
Here is the untested LCN order that I "received":

Site 71 - ?? VT (1) 454.20000, (2) 454.40000, (3) 454.52500 (4) 454.65000
Site 72 - Windsor, VT (1) 451.22500, (2) 451.42500, (3)452.57500
Site 73 - Manchester, VT (?) 451.21250
Site 74 - ??, VT (1) 454.05000, (2) 454.15000, (3) 454.30000, (4) 454.57500
Site 75 - Bennington, VT (1) 451.67500, (2) 452.45000
Site 76 - Hinsdale, NH (1) 452.21250, (2) 451.30000
Site 77 - Stratton, VT (1) 454.60000, (2) 463.21250

Thanks for the update Chris, I have added the info to my system spreadsheet. Site 73 is weak here and hard to decode. I don't know if I can find the other active channel from here or not. The site does not seem to be very active but that could just be my poor reception.

"New" talkgroups via Site 25

500220 single transmission
500283 school buses in MA
500343 discussion of "elevations". This is one higher than the TGs listed for NYC DEP, so it could be theirs. The mobile unit signed off with "Signal 7" which is a code used by NYSE&G.
500500 Saugerties school buses
500520 school buses. Mentioned Riverdale Country School (Bronx).
500830 medical transportation in Rockland County

500220 has already been identified as Minnewaska State Park in Ulster County. It's been in the database since last month.

I don't see a submission for the rest of the talkgroups you've found. Were you planning on making one?

They are not sufficiently identified to meet database standards.

Not true.

Please refer to the Database Administrator Handbook v1.8, Section 6.1 on page 8:

Entries in the database do not necessarily have to be specific with respect to their identification (although this is ideal) but they may not be completely unspecified. For example, a talkgroup on a business trunked system is considered “identified” if it is known to be “private security” or “ambulance service” (for example) even though the exact name of the business may remain unknown.

Four of the talkgroups you've observed meet the standards for inclusion in the database:

500283 School Buses (Massachusetts)
500500 School Buses (Saugerties)
500200 School Buses (Bronx)
500830 Medical Transport (Rockland)

EDIT: I've gone ahead and added these four to the system.

Thanks for the clarification and the database submission. Now I'll be better informed and my research will be more useful. :)

Dave, apparently DEP uses Signal 7 as well, I've copied it on the DEP Police talkgroup. Interesting listening to them...I receive Eastview and Ashokan, but occassionally the system links together and I catch Hillview, but the link has its own talkgroup. Interesting.

That info should be in the database already (and has been for months).

Thanks. I found the wiki with color code and talkgroups, but the frequencies are less than each site in the database and there are some mixing between sites. Which is more up to date, the wiki or the database?
