All OPP Detachments in Leeds & Grenville, Lanark, Ottawa, Renfrew and Frontenac are in 10-3 until further notice. Orillia Com Centre is looking after dispatching these units. Smith Falls Comms are supposed to be off line for today and tomorrow. All units in the area using TAC05 and Comm Desk 12

I'm hearing them just fine on their regular talkgroups.

Smiths Falls Comms said Orillia Comm Centre would be doing the comms for the next couple days as they are upgrading to the new Ontario system at Comms Centre.

I am watching in Brockville and all Comms are coming through on 2 TAC 05

Does this mean, it's over for scanning in this area?

Also getting those talkgroups over the Peterborough tower here.

If that is the case with Smiths Falls Comm Centre getting the new upgrade, those in Zone 3, should monitor new control channels yet to be active for testing on the new provincial system while current FleetNet will likely still be in full mode, while implementation and testing from the techs are carried out.

Leeds Grenville, Frontenac, l&g, and Prince Edward County, and Hastings linked to 2OPS08 out here to Orillia Comm Centre, while local comms for Northumberland and Peterborough County are on 2OPS39 and 2OPS15 on the Site 25 tower.

I’ve heard them talk

I've heard talk on the GTA groups about "new consoles". Perhaps that's it. That was a few weeks ago and everything is still going on FleetNet. No one has reported any new findings on the Windsor testing in some time.

The bonks are due to the battery going dead on the Tait portables. Those stupid batteries last as long as a cold tall boy does

As for the new system. No action. Haven't heard or seen anything new on it yet. No new sites have come alive, no radio affiliations, nada yet. Must be delays due to who knows what at the moment. Figured with three sites online we would see some type of activity, but nope.

The issue with the MPS is that the data is not sent over a private network it's sent over a public carrier. Signal levels are all over the place and many of the sites are really limited to how much throughput that can handle. It is not uncommon because of mobile flutter for packages to be lost or roaming handshakes to disappear into la la land. New computers won't fix this. Its like trying to stream video on dial up.

MPS runs over LTE not through the radio system. The new system will be up shortly and all comms including patches will be fully encrypted, you won't pick up anything on the scanners on the OPP end. Not sure when MoH will switch.

Everyone on FleetNet now will be encrypted on the new system.. that so far has no traction.

Their MWS are Panasonic FZG1's
I know Peel Regional Police have their own private cell network. Hytera provides a bunch of cell cites all over the city and issues their own Sim cards so officers don't have to worry about busy network issues or what have you.
Another dept out that way does it too.. York maybe or Durham, I cant remember. But doing that for the OPP wouldn't work out as they cover a far too wide of an area. Maybe sending the data thru the radio network could be a thing.. will be a phase 2 system and back in the day London Police used to send their MDT data via EDACS.

Down here I hear them saying they haven't gotten the update on CAD or they try to do a update and its not sending out so have to do a reboot. Guess anyplace they have Bell coverage they "should" have MWS coverage
