With the current state of the world right now if a war were to happen I would like to know what is going on in the battlefield so my question is do radio communications from soldiers overseas come back to America or do they just got to a field operator and if they do come back to America what frequencies or band would I hear them on.

The military has a LOT of resources for communications. Way more to list out here.
You won't hear anything on your scanner if it is happening overseas.

If you were lucky, you might get some HF/SSB traffic, but making sense of it wouldn't be easy. There's little need to send radio traffic from halfway around the world over an HF radio link.

Most everything that has to travel that far is sent by satellite, and it's pretty secure (encrypted). Anything local (that is, if you were in the immediate area) would probably also be encrypted. It's not that they don't want us listening in so much as they don't want our adversaries listening in.

I live 5 miles away from RAFB and I still hear everything clear.

Yeah it’s only drills
Right, but on the battlefield, everything will be encrypted. So if you were right there in-theater, whether it's Poland, or Ukraine, or Kerplunkistan, or wherever, you still would not be able to monitor anything.

Anything within the U.S. is going to be "training" in nature. Technically, there are no "combat" missions going on within the U.S. Not every communication on the battlefield is encrypted.

Can you give me a frequency range for HS SSB?
