Since July 1, I've noticed that Oxnard PD has switched dispatch from Band 1 (155.745) to Band 3 (155.655), renaming the old Band 3 to Band 1 in the process.

Thus far I've heard no reference to a new Band 3 (car-to-car) which is seldom used.
Questions
1. Is the dispatch change permanent? If so, why?
2. Band 3: Is it the old Band 1? If not, does it exist?
The answers are needed before RRDB submissions.
I'll keep listening.

This should be a temp switch. New consoles were installed in dispatch last week as part of their P25 radio upgrade and bugs are being worked out. Nothings been reprogrammed in the officers radios, they are just on Band 3 and referring to it as Band 1. Most true Car to Car is on Band 4 CALAW1 154.92000

They're using CALAW1 for routine local TAC? The June 2020 Cal-IFOG still shows that as being a widely-monitored (interop) channel.

Thanks Chris_STB
So OPD is going P25
That leads to further questions.
When will the switch take place? Lots of radios to replace.
Encrypted?
If encrypted, will Port Hueneme PD P25 become encrypted?
Simi Valley, Port Hueneme, Oxnard, Next?

Unkwn on the timeline for subscriber units to be replaced in the field. Simi Valley made the switch to Encryption months ago. Hueneme has the capability to, IIRC when they rolled out their P25 system years ago they toyed with it and it was a complete failure and they went back to the clear almost immediately.

The County 7/800 Phase II Trunking system is still being built out and they are still unsure on who will actually use the system. All departments, Fire and Police had a Console installed in their dispatch centers for testing. There is another thread on that system and the testing the members have captured.

Chris is it confirmed they are going P25? in the last 2 years they already had XTS2500 deployed, but I;ve seen several units still using Ht1250's. Patrol cars have Kenwoods, unknown if they are P25 models.
