• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Am just curious. Is the P25 standard going to be THEE standard for amatuer digital? I still see a lot of adds for D-Star.

I think that only time will tell on this question. Right now, the availability of P-25 equipment on eBay is why that standard seems to be out there more, but the equipment is still pretty expensive. Icom's D-Star is coming along, but hasn't reached a wider acceptance - yet. I have seen and heard about several P-25 repeaters out there on the amateur radio bands, but I haven't seen or heard about too many D-Star systems - yet.

We'll see......
