I'm seeing this listed in the updates on p25 trunk systems in the database but don't see anything different ? Am I missing something ? What exactly is this ? What am I missing here ?

If you click on a site, it’ll show you the band plan for the system/site as submitted by users with DSD+ or other monitoring software.

What good is that when most P25 systems broadcast the band plan on the control channel? I have even noticed a system where some sites don't have the same band plan and several systems with more band plans than what are actually used.

It's primarily done for non-affiliate scan purposes. Not everyone is in range of a system to check the control channel, e.g. someone going on vacation who wants to program their radio. The RRDB allows for multiple band plans per system, which can be assigned to sites individually if that is the case. And yes, there are some systems that have a lot more elements than what are actually used, e.g. 900 elements for 700/800 systems. That doesn't really matter, it doesn't negatively affect anything.
