My P25 settings are suddenly not working for reception from Toledo,Ohio and Lucas county. Reception from every place else (P25 sites) are fine. Check to see if anything has changed in that area but cannot find any recent changes. The only change on my end was that with the help from the fine people at Uniden,I had to make some radio power adjustments. My radio’s AC adapter and AC radio port got hit by a lighting surge. I’m running off of the DC plug to an AC adapter with in-line fuses. Nothing else has changed. I receive 800Mhz Trunked reception with my 40ft Log antenna from sites all around at great distance except for Lucas county Ohio. My P25 settings are Adjust mode=8 and Adjust level =75 with an error rate between 0 and 3. I’m just asking for any input.
Regards

So let's start with the basics, the primary question of course is what is your radio model? Pretty sure you're not talking about the SDS series but depending on your model, the lightning strike??? LOL may have corrupted your data card if you indeed have one. What model radio are we talking about here?

How long have you had this issue for? If it just started today there is a chance that the site is just down for maintenance and will be back online soon. But like trent said it could be related to the lightning strike you mentioned. I for one at least have heard stories of radio gear getting absolutely destroyed by lightning so just about anything could have happened to your radio. What type of antenna are you using? As that could play a role as well. If I were you I would do a full reset on you scanner and reprogram it from the ground up and see if that works. In response to WX4CW's thought about a possible control channel change I would check any FCC license changes for the site and/or I would run a frequency search for the 700-800 mhz range and see if you can find anything.

Actually, without knowing what radio we are even talking about or whether or not it has a data card really makes a big difference. When you program the radio if there's more than one control channel then they should all be in there in case they do switch up.

What kind of antenna on the 40 foot pole?

You say there's sites in there that are real far away. I didn't even look at your system, but you want to scan the least number of sites that you need preferably the ones that are nearby you. If the lightning strike was enough to fry your AC connection I have a feeling it could have done some other things too, more information, might help people to help you. :)

My antenna is a DP Production Log. I can receive reception on the average of 40 - 50 miles plus in all directions. The strange thing is that all of the other stations come in very good except for Lucas county for which I was receiving all along. I live in a rural area and the reception has been great for years. I also had a rotor and control box recently installed after the lightning strike which took out the rotor box.

There could have had been a severe storm in Lucas County also which took out their system. I suggest that you click on Report and request that your thread be moved to the Ohio forum so that you can check if other members in your area are having problems also. If there are no problems, that narrows it down to your scanner or antenna.

It’ a BCD996XT model.
I have FreeSCAN, ARC-XT, and ProScan. If you attach your Lucas County programming file, I will check it for problems. You will need to right click on the file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and Open the zipped folder.
