Excellent question and I'm sure a person that can get into the depths of the technology will be along shortly. In the meantime, here is my best understanding: on the OKWIN system, it is possible for it to support both digital and analog talkgroups, as well as encryption while the P25 system is strictly a digital P25 system that does not pass analog traffic. The P25 digital is the same on both, utilizing the Common Air Interface with the OKWIN P25 system using CAI Exclusive. The analog system is referred to as a Motorola Type II SmartZone.

Just occurred to me, what's the difference between an OKWIN Digital talkgroup and one on the OKWIN P25 system?

Nothing, really, especially if you set your scanner to show TGIDs in hexadecimal (they are the same on both systems). The digital modulation is the same, too. The site controllers are different, with one actually supporting the full P25 protocol and the other Type II.
