• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everyone

I just got a P7100ip scan radio today and cannot programm the radio. When I press the programm button on programmer I have an error message that says the RADIO ID NOT VALID. When I go in radio maintenance and I read the radio in the tracking data box it says INVALID - 0. I attached with this message a picture of the radio information. Also as you can see in the hardware board box it says 700...!!!

Also when I power up the radio all pixels open and stays there. Like if I was in programming mode.
Any help would be appreciated

Pat

p.s. I have version 18 of programmer

Your radio is set up for RPM and has too-new of flashcode. You will need to get it downgraded before RadioMaint or ProGrammer will see it as a valid radio.

You will need to have someone with RPM to downgrade it. Unfortunately doing it without the proper files will work in a pinch (tested it myself) it will work, but not without some bugs and maybe a less-than-fully-functional radio.

You can get Conventional only from a dealer for about $200 or so. Trunking is another story, havent seen a quote in a while but it was in the $2,000 ballpark. Give TAC a call and they should be able to get you a number for your nearest dealer.

I just contacted Harris and they are going to reprogram my radio. The guy said that it's not possible to downgrade to a lower programmer version. You need to have the right programmer version.

Thanks

Seems like a little misinformation from Harris there, but I'm glad they are going to work with you!

I believe its widely known that RPM-flashed P/M7100 radios can and need to be downgraded in order to work with the legacy ProGrammer software. If you have the correct bootloader file from RPM, you can do it yourself, but it seems that file is nearly impossible to secure.
