I'm in Erie County and it seems strange that if they will start testing here this year, why hasn't anything been licensed yet?

I believe I might have heard a CW ID on 158.7825, closest license on that frequency to here is WQUY816 in Huntingdon county. Going to pay more attention to see if I can get a positive ID on it.

EDIT: Just heard it again and this time I made sure I had a recorder running and did catch the ID, it is WQUY816. Appears to be IDing every half hour or so.

Just caught a CW ID on 158.8425 for WQUX676 in Franklin county. If the bidding process for the system is still going on, then I wonder what is going on here? Unused existing equipment being reprogrammed and used on the frequencies as a placeholder?

I spent a week in the area of Eastern/Central PA with all the sites programmed in as a P25-X2 system. As expected, I did not hear any activity from any of the sites yet in trunked mode.

I know it's still a build out and a work in progress but I'm intrigued that the only parts of the northeast that have anything at least ID's is Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, and Wayne. Nothing yet for what would be the busiest of the region in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, or Pike.

There is a lot of VHF spectrum used in the Lackawanna/Luzerne area. That complicates matters when you take in to account the coordination requirements. They might continue to use 700/800 there or they could end up using federal VHF spectrum or work out some other VHF sharing arrangement. We shall see.

So what is the 800mhz stuff and spectrum to become?

Will it be done away with all together or will other agencies like Penn DOT still be using it?

Still no licenses approved for Erie County. Wonder if they will be testing this year?

How about sorting by all of the above? I'll usually set up an excel spreadsheet with as much info as I can gather. Then filter it so I can select by frequency, call sign, emission, code, service, and location.

Anyone in Dauphin County have any new control channel activity on this repeater at Ellendale?
Might also want to search the 700/800 band for a new P25 II control channel.
As the system testing in NW is underway, there will also be a live site in the Harrisburg area since that is where the radio system admin folks are located.
