Tolls go up because of the $450 Million a year that is required to be given to Penndot every year as well as all of the other places that have their hand in the Turnpike piggy bank, the P25 system was trialed at two maintenance sheds to see how they would function.. the problem is that the maintence workers are used to the radio microphone that they usually grab and it was (in my opinion) a struggle to get them to remember to use the P25. Testing was done for sure by the radio department but live field user testing seemed to be spotty

Fine by me. Maybe that will get PSP back over to analog on the VHF system that was upgraded not that long ago. IMHO the PA turnpike is some of the best listening entertainment around.
