• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I would like to use my Amazon Show 5 as a remote speaker for my G5 via Bluetooth, but can't seem to get them to pair. The Show immediately recognizes the G5 and says "Now connected to Pager", but the G5 will not pair, even after multiple attempts (in the same room). It's always the same; the Show recognizes "Pager", but the G5 says "Connection to Echo Show failed". Any ideas?

I imagine there are a few posts on issues with getting a G4/G5 bluetooth to work. I was never able to get my G4 to pair with anything and produce a usable result so I wouldn't beat myself up over it. Point being, it's not you. I believe many are hoping a firmware update will help, but .......

Does the show support bluetooth V2? Most newer devices support 4 and up for media usage. V2 was meant for voice calls.
Chances are your show sees it as part of the BT protocol however it will not support a call as its looking for a media connection.

Here's what Amazon says:
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) support for audio streaming from your mobile device to Echo Show 5 or from Echo Show 5 to your Bluetooth speaker. Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) for voice control of connected mobile devices. Hands-free voice control is not supported for Mac OS X devices. Bluetooth speakers requiring PIN codes are not supported.

I found this in a search. I'm not well versed in Bluetooth, so maybe someone else is. I have my fingers crossed.

Bluetooth profiles are not tied to Bluetooth versions. For example, Bluetooth version 1.2 (and higher) supports A2DP, but not all Bluetooth 1.2 or Bluetooth 2.0 devices support A2DP. Manufacturers decide which profiles to support, according to the application and required profiles.Feb 28, 2017

Well there you go. I am confident but do not have the documentation to say that the Gx do not support A2DP. These are not media devices and support voice comms over BT.. so that would fall under a different protocol.
