I'm thinking of buying an RF4900. I owned an RF2800 years ago and I think I'd like another Panasonic.

What would be a realistic price for one with less than 2 hours use on it and the battery compartment is pristine? I looked on ebay and saw some at around $130 to $150, but they were being advertised as very used. It has all the bells and whistles, but no original box.

According to the Modern SW Receiver survey on the Universal website that price might be a tad low. The big bugaboo in this radio is that it's prone to drift, and more of an issue, the bandswitch wears out rather easily, and it's a bear to replace it. I had the same thing happen to a RF2900 I used to own. A shame, really - it was a very sensitive radio, didn't need much of an antenna to make it work.

I'd be a little hesitant. 73 (best regards) Mike

I own a Panasonic RF-4900 and I bought mine at a Garage sale a couple of years back and I bought mine for $50.00.I also might add that you might check out Craig's List across the US. I have bought a lot of great things from Craigs list.Universal Radio is a little high for what they are selling and if you look around you will find what you want for the price you want to pay. 73 Tim DeLong W9NES GMRS KAF3207 *Monitoring all of Metro Indianapolis/Marion County and all of Central Indiana*
