Anyone have personal experience with this receiver? I have found some articles on the web, but nothing too specific. Good? Bad? Ugly?

I just come into possession of this radio last night.

You can go to eHam.net and go to the review section. Look under Receivers:General
Coverage.

I had one. It was OK in it's day and was a competitor to the Zenith Trans Oceanic, with a very similar dial layout. If you want it for sentimental reason and it's maybe $30 or less, I'd buy it. For serious DX'ing, it horrible. Sincle conversion, bleedover and signal mixing on every band, no SSB, and it's just about impossible to figure out if your within 50 kHZ of any station you're trying to listen to. A Kaito 1103 for around $75 is a much better buy if you want to really do some SWL.

I have two of the heavy portable recievers. When working properly, they are a lot of fun. And listen very well on all bands. Very nice audio on FM. But when the pushbuttons start to get dirty. The whole AM Band goes dead. I know of one person that works out of california that can repair, and alighn this monster. He repaired a conion boombox of mine 126-f. He works off of e-bay. If you type into e-bay asking for dial light bulbs for trans oceanic radios. Thats how you can find him. I dont know of anyone else who would even try. If the radio works enjoy it. No one else produces great shortwave recievers like this anymore. I also have a Panasonic RF-8000. This is a radio that was built far better than anything else ever produced. At alot of cost. If you stumble on one. And have the money to buy it. Dont hesitate
