Hi I am new to this site. I have been using a Radio Shack Pro-652 and was getting the police and fire, but turned on the scanner today and nothing! Scanner is doing its thing but not receiving. Did they change something? I just opened a new 652 and programed it, it gets nothing! Thanks Ernie

Parma switches Control Channels on a regular basis. Make sure you have programmed the following frequencies..

851.46250
851.73750
852.40000
852.67500
853.62500
853.87500
853.93750

Currently 853.93750 is the active Control Channel.

Earlier this week I posted that I was hearing the Parma system a lot. Well today not a single hit all day. I thought it was lack of leaves and snow covered ground that made for the better reception but not today. Not a single peep from them here. Jeffb is closer to the system and if he heard something then it's up and running, but there is no signal here in Twinsburg.

Ed,

Since the middle of November, the Parma P25 system has used only the following 5 frequencies.

851.46250 CC
851.73750
852.40000
853.62500
853.93750 AC

851.46250 is used as the CC roughly 90% of the time. 853.93750 is used as CC 10%.

Bud I'm thinking that when 851.46250 is the cc I hear the system fine and when 853.93750 is the cc I don't hear the system at all. I've seen that sort of thing before that when the frequency from the same location to another fixed location changes the signal strength varies as much as full scale to zero. Another RR user and I ran a test on the 440 amateur band years ago and found this to be true. Interesting but frustrating. I think this may be the case with the Parma system and me.

I spent the entire day Thursday in Berea. My PSR 800 has programmed all the control channels listed in the RR Database for Parma. I was able to hear clear the Parma System from Bainbridge all the way over to Berea and all day long in Berea without any issues.

I'm sure those people hearing Parma are hearing Parma. I am not. It is good for a while and then it's nonexistent for a while. Right now it's nonexistent. I don't see the higher frequency CC ever!. The lower frequency CC is fine when the are using it. I live 11 miles away from the Parma site(s) over bad terrain this month. Next month I'll be less than 3 miles away line of site so there will not be a problem. :)

Did you ever get this working? I see you are at the north end of Parma but I wouldn't think that's a problem. The key here is since it's a Harris radio system they can use any of their frequencies for a control channel. So you should program all their frequencies in.

I assume when I hear Parma in Bainbridge it is coming off their Warrensville Hts Tower. When mobile I don't watch the scanner for control frequencies so I am not sure. However, when I am 2-3 miles North of Bainbridge I do not hear Parma at all. So as you have said many times Ed and David Zimmerman confirms your thoughts the system is spotty.

Hmmm. I don't even have the Warrensville Hts Site programmed in. I sure can hear the MARCS, MARCS IP, and GCRCN sites in that area very well.

I am receiving talkgroup 1260 on the Parma/Ottawa County site....Can anyone tell me who this is? It sounds like a Police Dispatch channel but cannot find anything in RRDB...

Thanks,
John KD8BIN

I have not a clue. I am in the Parma end of the system and running in Search mode and I have picked up a few unidentified TGs but that one is probably in your area .
