I'm having a problem with a PD782 radio. It does not "acknowledge" that an accessory was plugged in, like a remote speaker/mic, or data cable. Normally when you plug in an accessory, an alert pops up and you get the "accessory connected" small icon displayed.
The thing is, even though the radio is not announcing a connection, the data cable still works. The remote speaker is another story.
The remote speaker/mic (SM18M2) will operate, but sound only comes out of the radio speaker, unless I manually change the speaker setting from "External First" to "Only External". Then it works perfectly. ...but I have to remember to change that back when removing the speaker, or no audio will be played.
My theory is since the radio doesn't know the accessory is connected, it won't send to the external speaker when given the programming logic "is connected?" But if you change the setting to "External Only", it just sends the audio signal regardless if the radio knows the accessory is there or not. That would also explain why the remotes PTT and Mic (but not the speaker) work in the "External First" setting. Since the signal is originating from the remote, there is no need for the "is connected" programming logic, but when audio comes back in, it does the accessory check and sends to the radio speaker.
I have ruled out an accessory problem by swapping remotes, and the common denominator is always the radio. The connector on the radio is in perfect condition, and I have cleaned it with alcohol a few times just to be sure. Has anybody ever seen this before? Is there accessory pin mapping in the software that I'm not finding? or any other software or hardware changes that could cause this?
Thank you
