Peoria starcom site picking up a bunch of new talkgroups from 6501 thru 6800. Assuming this is preparation for Peoria County P25 to migrate to StarCom.

Can confirm based on audio recorded that 6553 is Bartonville FD F1 and 6554 is Bartonville FD F2.

Also hearing a lot of "testing" on numerous other TGs.

I monitor the Peoria Co ETSB Network. ETSB has one of their antenna sites within one mile of my home. Should I expect to be able to monitor all of the county with the RANGE on the scanner only set at 5.0 miles. Thank You for your time

It's currently a simulcast system, so as long as you can hear one tower, you will hear all TGs on that system.

However, that system is about to go dark as they convert over to StarCom sometime in January.

The Peoria site of StarCom is already a simulcast site. The question will be what will they do with the towers of the current Harris system. They could add them to the existing Peoria StarCom site as an additional tower, or possibly create a whole new StarCom site, but I think that might be a bit of overkill.

But then again the current Peoria StarCom site only has 6 voice channels, so hard to say.

The Peoria County Emergency Telephone System Board Harris P25ip Trunked Radio System is being converted to STARCOM21 Site 49 on January 9, 2019. There will be twelve 800 MHz RF channels at the same eleven sites used by the Harris P25ip ten 800 MHz RF channel simulcast system. Those twelve frequencies include the ten currently used by the Harris system (1 control, 9 voice). The ETSB microwave system connects the eleven sites and two PSAPs. The Harris system will be turned off after all users are moved to STARCOM21. Scanner users will find that all talkgroup numbers have been changed to fit into STARCOM21, starting at 6501 (decimal format). All Peoria County talkgroups are Phase 1; however, the system will handle Phase 1 or Phase 2 transmissions.
Fire Department and EMS alerting will remain on their existing VHF frequencies.

I'm getting a lot of stuff over the Peoria County STARCOM site, but nothing that sounds like Peoria County SO or Peoria PD. A school, Peoria Mass Transit, some guy that's 25 minutes from Spring Bay, and even Monroe County SO!! Been monitoring for about 90 minutes.

What control channel are you using?

852.45 is the control frequency for the Peoria Starcom multisite system that was already running. The control frequency for the newly migrated Peoria ETSB to Starcom multisite system is currently 857.9625. All of the frequencies that Peoria ETSB were using are still being used. They are just renaming the LCNs.

So.... The Harris system will be shut off after migration. Will there be 2 separate simulcast systems in Peoria County? I can pick up the original one great, either at home or mobile. Not so much with the new one. It's in and out at my house. BTW, I couldn't get the Harris system at all at home.

And also, thank you for steering me in the right direction. I was under the impression that they were "merging" to a new system.
