Maybe I asked this before, but it's late and I'm much too tired to search. Why does Peoria PD have like 3 dispatch/info/car/metro/etc. channels? Been to their site couldn't find anything related to precincts or anything like that so don't know. Everybody's help appreciated.

At one point, they were planning on splitting the City into North, Central and South areas/precincts, and they were going to assign one deck to each area/precinct.

I don't know if that is still a future plan, or not.

Actually been to their website just now. See that they have two public safety buildings so maybe that's the beginning of it.

In all, would it matter which channel set (A/B/C) I used to monitor them? It's very confusing. Thanks.

Dispatch A is the only dispatch being used right now. Special Events A-4 is used at the stadium (along with 460.350 by the way). A-6 Metro is supposed to be in the clear and used by officers traveling around the Valley, but it was being used for local surveillance activities in the past, and I mentioned to my now retired from Peoria PD friend that they should probably go encrypted for officer safety reasons. I don't know if the encryption is strapped to that TG now, or if they just started making sure they flipped the encryption switch on their radios to "on" when using it for surveillance activities. I haven't heard it used in several years.
Some of the encrypted B-deck and C-deck TG's have been used by detectives, but I haven't heard much in the way of other unencrypted TG's being used.

The Pinnacle Peak sub-station, which is co-located with fire station 195 up on Lake Pleasant Parkway, has been open for many years now. They refer to it as "107" on the radio, with "103" being the main station at 83rd Ave and Cinnabar Ave.

I really should submit these to the database:

A-12: 769.05625 National Itinerant 1(NAC 293?)
A-13: 851.01250 8AIRS-AZ Repeater (156.7 Hz)
A-14: 855.21250 Backup Repeater A (146.2 Hz)
A-15: 855.21250 Simplex

B-12: 769.06875 National Itinerant 2 (NAC 293?)
B-14: 855.71250 Backup Repeater B (162.2 Hz)
B-15: 855.71250 Simplex

C-12: 774.993750 National Itinerant 3 (NAC 293 heard. Encryption heard. Not supposed to be encrypted.)
C-14: 855.46250 Backup Repeater C (127.3 Hz)
C-15: 855.46250 Simplex

Peoria Stadium: 460.3500 (203.5 Hz, Maintenance/Parking Control/Security)

I-deck (Common to all agencies?)

We should clean up the database for Maricopa County. For example create those headings Maricopa, County of, Phoenix, City of that kind of thing as it is for other counties.

And I don't think we need to list Sheriff's Office as a seperate listing. It already says Sheriff/County services for the Maricopa County system.

Hey John,

Is there any traffic on the west side with these frequencies? (AKA - 107th & Olive) If so, I'll throw them into my RWC scanner

Thanks

The backup repeaters get tested a few times a year, that's how I got the tones for them. Peoria PD keeps them in the event that the RWC has a widespread failure. Those frequencies used to be used for the City services trunked system, prior to the RWC.

I hear 8AIRS-AZ come up once in a great while, although usually with a 100.0 Hz tone, and sometimes with interference that sounds like an open squelch knob. Especially in the area around the ASU West campus.

460.3500 at the stadium is active fairly regularly, with maintenance comms. They're more active when there's something going on at the stadium, of course. I think you should be able to hear them.

National Itinerant 3 is the only one of the three National Itinerants that I've heard, and I'm pretty sure it was encrypted every time, although it's not supposed to be encrypted at all.

And the correct Alphas for the 8Tacs should be 8TAC-91, 8TAC-92, 8TAC-93, 8TAC-94, and 8TAC-95.

Do a LexisNexis crime search on the Valley, and it will become very clear. Peoria has a small somewhat "bad" pocket in the south part of the city, but other than that, there is so little crime in that city it's really quite stunning. Looking at the map will have you doing a double-take. Once you get north of Cactus reported crimes are but a handful of dots on the map. I don't know all the reasons for this, but the statistics are amazing.

Peoria doesn't need all those channels, so for all intents and purposes, those are just expansion channels for possible future use. Even neighboring Glendale has a small enough amount of crime that they can dispatch on just two channels, and sometimes they use patching and only a single talk group. Their "bad" area is near Maryvale, and north of that there isn't that much crime. Phoenix has so much crime it just makes the other cities look downright innocent by comparison. The main value of the RWC for the more peaceful towns is in the interoperability with other agencies that they gain. Peoria could have used their old system effectively for the next decade.

I think Glendale could have stayed on their own trunked system as well. The 16 TG's were set up exactly the same as they are on the RWC now, albeit with little, if any, encryption. At least a few of the frequencies from their old system are now being used by the ASU trunked system, at the ASU West site.

There is a citizens group here in Peoria who have an issue with the apparent lack of patrol officers, and the subsequent long police response times, especially in the northern beats, such as the West Wing development.

I'm not positive, but I think the economic status of certain neighborhoods are being reflected in the crime statistics. Lower income neighborhoods, higher crime rates. Better education, better opportunities for low income residents, could change those statistics.
