Is there anyone in the St. Joseph Mo area that could give me some personal help? I have so many questions, not so much about the Pro 106 scanner but things like the best way to set it up with talk groups, trunked systems, what to put where and why. I feel I have it set pretty good but I am probably missing something. These forums are great but I am more of a hands on guy and I am in Missouri so you have to "show me".
I travel to the southern part of the state and would like to have everything covered from here to there and all in between.

If you are wanting help, you need to be a bit more specific as to the route you are taking in Missouri. Also, I don't know what type of traffic you are wanting to monitor.

On my trips to Sioux City, Iowa, I have monitored radio systems in Missouri, Kansas, & Iowa.

If you don't have programming software, I strongly recommend the purchase of such. I have a GRE equivalent of your radio, the GRE PSR 500. I happen to use Win500 software.

I am sorry to say, there is no easy way to program the area you requested. It takes time and sustained effort. But, once you have this information, you can store it in one of the 21 different V-folders.

Here is a helpful link: Easier to Read Pro-106/197/PSR500/600 Digital Scanner Manual

PS: You might need to get a map out to program. When I program, I follow the highway & determine the counties along that route. Then, I program. Typically, I put all VHF in one scan list. I have a separate scan list for Highway Patrol, Fire, Federal and EMS. I keep them separated in order to deactivate others when I want to monitor specific agencies. Typically, I put cities with trunking systems in their own scan list. When I travel, I carry scan list guides for what I've programmed. This has worked well for me.

Ensnared, that is more like I am looking to do. I just really dont understand all I know about it. I am basically looking for someone in the area that has your knowledge that will sort of take me by the hand (so to speak) and personally show me the ropes by letting me have a visual of their set up, explaining the different types of comm systems and such. Do i need multiple trunk systems, or do I just add the freqs from the systems. The directions say that the scanner may not act right if there are too many trunks on it. Like right now, I have most everything I have in the St. Joseph area but it turns out that I have 3 trunk systems (2 from St. Joe, and 1 harrison county)but I dont think I need everything in all those. Harrison County has some of the same in it. I was thinking that if for instance I put departmants form lake ozark region on the same channels as St. Joe, I wouldnt have to remember where i put them as st. joe would just fade outand the others would start up. But how many is too many on a bank? I like simple, and carrying a list would start complicating things cause i would mis place it. Also, how do i know which are VHF? What is your reason for doing that? What is a v folder? I do have gre software and still have several days left on my premium membership.

I have written you a private message. Please, read this. I am expecting to hear from you via email or telephone to better explain this, with visual cues. Ok?

Help With Programming

As soon as I can get a little time in front of a pc I will read the pm and or call. Thank you very much.

That is fine. I sent you a link showing an example of Win500 programming for your radio. But, please get in touch with me and we can work this out together. I needed quite a bit of help when I first purchased my PSR 500.
