So Philly will continue to keep two disparate systems for police and fire!? Does anyone in Philly actually understand the concept of TRUNKING!? Why do they insist on two separate systems?

They are not keeping two systems moving forward. Take notice of the site numbers, the are 103 & 104. Eventually the currnert two zones will become sites 101 & 102.

The city will become a true Project-25 SmartZone system; meaning only the traffic necessary for each tower will be carried at any given site. For example, if you live in NE Philly and you previously listened to the 12th District on the S-West channel; unless some user is in the NE zone with a radio on S-West channel, you will not hear that traffic. By dong this, the will virtually eliminate their system busy issues and respective citywide outages.

Also, expect full encryption of all police, fire, and ems talk groups as well.

The system is public in the database now. Let me know if there are any discrepancies between what is listen and what is known.

I am monitoring it with Unitrunker from N.Delaware as time permits.

Dave,

I went ahead and made a few corrections; we've also got copies of the logs coming in daily to process as well. I'll also lend a hand with the updates; I have insider info for Philadelphia which helps a great deal...

As far as monitoring these x2-TDMA systems; you're better off using the Pro96Com application, it's much more robust and provides a greater deal of accurate information. Unitrunker was great for 3600 Baud Type II systems, but it crashes far too often and provides erroneous information when control channel changes take place.

Very good.

Since I'm pretty tied to uniden digital I'll have to rely on others. PSR800 is as close as i have gotten....and it still drives UT.

Mike,

When you have a moment, can you run this report from site 103 (853.8125) for at least a hour?

I have processed the updates in the database already.

Thanks,

Jerry

All of the voice traffic has (as of yesterday) been on that 851.1 channel. I have run on site 3 all day. Will report or update when I get the data tonight. I have had no hits or affiliations on site 3 as of yet.

That makes sense considering the are using the rebanded version of their current frequencies; they can only take so many channels out of the rotation in order to not have negative effects on the live systems users.

I know this document is dated, but it seems to refer to the upgrade. If you read pages 3 and 4, there seems to be hope that the system will be operating in FDMA mode (no mention of APX radios) and that the system will not be exclusively encrypted (mentioned encryption on only a certain amount of radios). Of course, all of the information is this document could have changed in the interim.
