• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The ONLY site with information can be found here. Realistic "mini 6" TRC-11
I guess it was VERY tiny to the standards of the 70's as it was only $79. A time when most CB radios exceeded $200. As you seen there is a crappy photo of the radio only at that site. So at great risk of breaking my camera, I took more! I know the Radio isn't good looking but please don't hurt it's feelings. Its done nothing to you! (Blame it's Parents not it) lol

Here is a dangerous angle I took- Head on.

Here are it's papers (ID Credentials)

The rear view (Almost as terrifying as it's front shot)

I noticed an external transistor on the inner right side (facing Radio)

I forget- but what was the function of them on 23 and older radios? Weren't they a voltage regulator?

Here my plan for this Radio :) I am going to use the 'extra' channels to my advantage. Now I can use my Xtal handhelds to now. You can get them to operate down to 26.540
This is done be reversing the "A" to the B position. Then the "B" to the A position. Every Channel's Crystal's have a receive & Transmit set that are .455 apart.

So what you say? Yeah- well you reverse their place and the Channel 1 aka 26.995 is now
a 26.540 :) You now have your 'extra channels'. As you now figured out- we now have a 'extra' 40 more channels on a Xtal radio now. :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone else ever had this Radio? I do not seem to have the correct dial though. It looks different-but who cares its ugly anyways!

Its been a long time, but I think that the TRC-11 and the TRC-10 were basically the same radio, just newer versions. the transistor by itself is the 2SC609 and it the rf transistor. On the other side should be 2, 2SC830 transistors, they are the audio output and the modulation transistors. You can find a schematic and service manual for the TRC-10 at CB tricks web site. And yes you could reverse crystals...use to do it all the time.

Mini 6

I had one of those many years ago and I loved that little rig for a couple of reasons...first, there were only a few channels that people regularly used, and so plugging the proper crystals in them was a piece of cake.. Secondly, it wasn't real sensitive insofar as SWR was concerned...Any ol' antenna would work. This was when Thundersticks (108" fiberglass whips) were cheap, so in the tractor, the pickup, and the house, I had a whip and just packed the little radio around, since it would fit in a coat pocket. It was a great little starter rig for anyone who wanted to be on CB radio cheap. I'd like to find one in good shape myself, just for the nostalgia value.
