AM-19 is common, but . . not always.
At least one pilot will monitor 19 (two radios) and the rest will be on something somewhat adjacent.

They may also be on two-way business radio. Practices change per state, in main. At least one CB per group is a given.
Since as a group they stay together
its par if you don’t hear one or more of them (short range emphasis).
One of their bigger problems is that which blocks full use of shoulder, whether Interstate or US Highway. This is where your recall, say, of a big truck breakdown behind you at MM-361 is of real use. They may not go that far, but they’ll want the info, regardless.
That’s a job that pays pretty well and you’re home every night. But the risks are considerable.
