Anyone have any recommendations for listening? Taking the metro from Shady Grove to the cemetery and probably won't be leaving the cemetery except to eat. On a side note , anyone have any ideas on where to take a Scouting group to eat near Arlington National Cemetery? Has to be as close as possible and relatively inexpensive(for DC area this is a lot to ask I know) . The only place I can think of is possibly Pentagon City shopping area. Looks like a short Metro ride (can we walk to Pentagon City from the cemetery?) PM me w/suggestions so we don't clog the forums. Thanks

Sorry, but I avoid PM's, so I'm posting here...

Arlington County, DC, and the Metro all have P25 systems. Most fire/EMS is unencrypted.

While the Pentagon City mall/area has a large selection, you cannot get there from the cemetery except by Metro or a LONG roundabout walk.

You can't go south from the cemetery on foot, due to the Pentagon, you can't go west due to Ft. Myer, and there is nothing going east save the National Park kiosks... which are ill prepared to serve groups quickly...

I would recommend walking past the USMC Memorial, which is just north of the cemetery (there is a walking gate that you can use...), then walking to the Rosslyn area on N. Meade St., which splits into Ft. Myer Dr. and Lynn St, only a couple blocks. If you follow the Ft. Myer Dr. split, they have a Panera with significant seating space (for the DC/NoVa area...) The Lynn St side has several restaurants, as well as that being where many food trucks gather. I'm sure there are a few other things in the area between the USMC and Rosslyn, but I normally stay closer to my office near Courthouse.

Anyway, just a few rambling suggestions from an Eagle Scout and temporary transplant from Central Ohio to the Arlington Area.

Oh, and if you're taking the Metro from Shady Grove to Arlington, make sure you pay careful attention to your transfers so you don't end up on the wrong train, only the Blue line goes to Arlington National Cemetery.
