In the past I have monitored clear analog transmissions on the frequency of 421.7125 mhz, with a CTCSS of 123.0. For the past few years it has been 100% Digital P25. The NAC I'm getting from the repeater output in Ottawa region is 100. All recent (since i have been P25 capable) its been P25 Encrypted.

That's a known RCMP channel, but you're stating that based on the clear-voice activity you used to hear, it's used for the Prime Minister's security detail?

i would say after this posting, that freq will be burnt or return to ENC IMHO

This is a known and published frequency used for the PM Detail for close to 15 years, so no big secret. The fact is it has been encrypted 100% of the time for at least 3 years now as well. The new information I posted was the NAC 100.

I have monitored this frequency used when the PM travels around Canada as well.

Ocscan has not burned the frequency. His post states that lately it's been 100% encrypted.

The NAC of 100 is the usual RCMP NAC so even though the frequency is encrypted, it's still likely to be RCMP.

The other NAC which has been reported as belonging to the RCMP is FED.

IIRC, British Columbia is using "4CE" (force? :)) for their VHF repeaters.

Yesterday and today, I have been picking up what is likely RCMP using 421.8875mhz NAC $FED, and 421.6125mhz NAC $100. Both are Encrypted P25.

I'm here a lot
Stupid answer of the day: some people collect hockey cards, others collect CTCSS, DCS and NAC's

If you use a radio that can show you TGIDs and RIDs on a conventional P25 channel, there's more you can learn i.e. which radios show up using different frequencies.

The other reason is due to the fact its fairly common for one or more radios using an encrypted P25 channel to loose its key and transmit in clear P25. Very recently for example there was a fairly large surveillance operation going on in and around Ottawa in clear P25. Early each morning they would perform radio checks etc, and talk about how the encryption was still not working.
I find for the most part I will scan through all my normally encrypted channels at the beginner of a listening session to see if any are clear P25 that day.
