Hi, im looking for a portable charger and ups battery backup. Any suggestions? I own a bc125at and a bcd325p2.

Can you give more detail on what you're trying to accomplish? Do you want to support one or both radios at the same time and over what length of time?

A UPS is not very efficient as the inverter alone depletes a lot of run time away from it's battery source.

A better approach would be using a 12V GEL-CELL and a 12V-to-5V converter, along with a small charger. The length of run time would be determined by the size of the battery and you could support the scanner for several hours, days or even weeks depending on the battery. Using a UPS you might expect several minutes to possibly up to an hour.

For the converter something like this:

GEREE Waterproof DC Converter 8-22V To 5V 3A/15W Dual Power Adapter DC To DC Buck Converter Step Down Power Supply Module Car Power Converter Double USB Cable Connector Car Charger 12V To 5V

74414

I recommend a Battery Tender designed for charging Gel-Cells. A typical charge maintainer for lead-acid batteries often used for car, boat, motorcycle batteries etc usually not work properly with Gel-Cells.

Down and dirty: Check your workplace for a "dead" workstation 600VA UPS. They are usually 'dead' because they beep "bad battery" or only run for a couple minutes because of a bad battery. Buy any ole SLA 12V 7AH battery from your local battery store or Amazon- they're all about the same and cost $20~30. Swap batteries. You're in.

What im trying to do, is having a portable charger so when i go out i can have the scanner pluged in and run (when im home scanner are always plug in usb) as for the ups im looking for one so in case of a major power outage during the night i could be able to still monitor.(yes my scanners are on 24/7)

If you don’t have a USB charging port or three in the car, you can pick up something like this and a spare Mini-USB cable. There are a million of them out there, plus hardwired variations.

AUKEY USB Car Charger, Flush Fit Dual Port USB Car Charger with 24W/4.8A Output for iPhone Xs/Max/XR, iPad Pro/Mini, Samsung Galaxy Note9 and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M6QODH2

Ditto on the usb charger hubs. I have three for personal use (cell phones, 2m radio, etc) that are all solar chargeable (AMAES) 4- port usb outlets and they are fantastic for personal use. If you are not gaming or watching movies (high battery drain) they will last for hours. I have one dedicated to my iPad where all I do is read Kindle and it gives me 5+ hrs.

For traveling I highly recommend a little system I employed on my recent 2-month RV excursion, the Goal Zero Venture 30 Power Bank + Nomad 7 Solar Kit. Ran everything I needed for hours. Park the RV, prop the panels up on the roof and voila! you have campfire power. This is a must-have when camping/rv-ing, we used it almost every night without any fails. 10 stars!
