This will be a Project 25, Multi-zone, simulcast system. Likewise, they anticipate the integration of 700 MHz frequencies in the future. Moreover, here is a key area that is very interesting:

The Coalition is contemplating a project to collectively upgrade and/or replace the region’s radio systems with a digital 700/800 MHz system. It is anticipated that the voice system would be a trunked radio system and would adhere to the current national ANSI/TIA 102 series digital Project 25 (P25) standards for trunked operation and for the P25 Intersubsystem Interface (ISSI). The ISSI will assure that the system will be capable of seamless interconnection to all other P25 compliant trunked radio systems that may be established in Oregon and/or Washington, Idaho, California.

Now this is an excellent of forward thinking. Currently, Idaho does have their statewide 700 MHz TRS under construction. Likewise, the federal IWIN TRS is well-under development in the Pacific Northwest in this area. These are two systems that can easily interconnect with this radio system in the future, especially since the IWIN TRS is being built-out along the I-5 corridor.

It will be interesting to see how this proposed system plays out in the future. Moreover, as a regional interop network, they stand a better chance of attracting federal grant money from Homeland Security funds. This could be the start of a statewide TRS for the state of Oregon, provided everyone can come to a mutual agreement on how to fund and construct such an interoperability network.

I dont see everyone coming to a agreement happening. 700mhz is not going to work in eastern oregon. The area is mountains and canyons and valleys and they would have to send to much money on towers and etc..
There are several agencies in Eastern Oregon that were fighting the idea of a 700mhz system that was to cover the state because of the money... WASTE...

Common sense would dictate using 150 MHz frequencies for a statewide
system (like Wyoming and other states), but, just take a look at Colorado:
800 MHz digital statewide system in a state with 14,000 foot peaks.
They are endlessly begging for more tax dollars for additional fill towers,
and they get it. What else can they do? It's way too late to dump 800 now...

FYI: Oregon's future statewide system's last proposal called for 700 MHz
WEST of the Cascades, and 150 MHz EAST, but the almost $ 3/4 Billion asked for
was not approved by the legislature.

In my experience what the Willamette Valley wants, the Willamette Valley gets...

We'll figure out the rest of the state as we go along.

Several points.
1) That is old news.
2) It is years away, if it ever gets funded.
3) I think it is rather presumptuous of people in other states deciding we need a sticky on this subject and reference some blog, to boot.
Dick:

  1. I suggest you look when this thread was started.
  2. The OP passed away several months ago.
  3. The thread was made a sticky so the less hotheaded members of the forum could post news in one spot instead of starting a new thread each time.
  4. I think it is time you took a few moments before you jump up and start posting in such an aggressive manner. This is the second time in as many days that you expressed your unwanted opinion.
