• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I upgraded the poor old machine that runs the Portland Law and Portland Fire feeds to Windows 7 tonight. I think I got the audio levels adjusted right - and everything should be working OK for the time being. In the next week or so, I'll be replacing the old Pro-95 that feeds the Fire Feed with a BCT15X, and then tags will be available on both the Law and Fire feeds.

(For those who care, this is an old 32-bit 1.7ghz celeron box with 768mb of RAM - it runs faster - and better - than it did with Win2k on it!)

Yeah, I found when I setup Windows 7 on a few PCs I have which I do run audio input for, it seems to handle sound levels much better.
