The codes have changed due to the switch to the new VCAD system. I think "willie one" is now "david". Sounds like a project for someone.

Oh wow, that sounds like kind of a big switch.. I guess we'll have fun decoding the new lingo.

Well, if it is any indication, it sounds like most PPB officers are just as confused by the new disposition codes as we are.

I heard one sergeant end a call yesterday with "I can't find anything, so clear this as a... well, whatever you now call a Willy, I don't know what the hell that is now." (I assume he would have said "Willy 1" before).

The only one I am pretty certain about is traffic calls clearing themselves out with the word "Charlie," which I am thinking is the disposition code for "Citation."

Thanks!

Jeez, you would think things like FCR would be "F" and Report Written would be "R", but no, let's make the system that much more confusing.

What surprises me is that instead of changing communications policy for the officers/field units to give their dispositions in plain text instead of using codes (which NIMS frowns on), they changed from one set of codes to a new set of codes.

The new CAD system is all about tracking statistics and less about efficiency.

Out with the old and in with the old? Yep. Disposition codes --- NIMS frowns on them, officers frown on them, dispatchers frown on them, BUT that guy that sits in an office somewhere in the city and prints off a daily/weekly/monthly statistics report, absolutely loves them.

Thank You. I asked one of my closest friends who is a Sgt at North Pct and he says he has them written down on a sticky note on his mdt,

And poof, there is the disconnect between the managers / programmers of the system(s) and users in the field. Just because it looks pretty sitting on some office desk doesn't always translate into working well for day-to-day users.

Hopefully they get the immediate concerns ironed out and have an ongoing pipeline for users to voice complaints and suggestions. For $14.5 million dollars, the "small text" and "address" issues seems like they should have been fixed by the manufacturer long before it ever became operational.
