This video on youtube piqued my interest. Does anyone know what format the data is and if it's decodable into something that makes sense.

Hello Steve,
This was discussed in the ATCS Monitoring Yahoo group. So far, there has been some decoding done but nothing has been found (so far) that indicates track occupancy or turnout alignment type information so not really useful to railfans at this time. I don't know how far back it was but the conversation was certainly within the last year if not the last 6 months.

Video has been taken down, but I will tell you that all of our (Metro NYC) 220 data is either or will be AES encrypted. I worked on the test program almost 10 years ago and that's always been a given. The format is new and as I remember not something you can readily decode

I'm a little confused.... The picture looks like a pretty standard signal control box (with a satellite link) next to a signal tower. What does this have to do with PTC?

The site pictured probably is not for PTC as there is no 220mhz antennas, but for back haul of signal data.
PTC is directly interfaced with the existing signal system, it provides switch positions, signals displayed and in some cases locations and speed back to the PTC controller. The PTC controller then determines the route, speed of any consists in that territory. It is truly interactive, IF programmed correctly.
