• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Per DauCo meeting minutes on the record from May:

"The County is currently working on a project with Adams and Franklin
Counties to have the same radio system. This way if one went down they would not
lose radio service. "

Interesting... Any info? This topic arose in conversations regarding additional psap dollars the county would be granted and how they were to be distributed. These quoted lines are really the only references to the project.

Seeing as the system is approaching 10 years old they may be starting to look into replacement options in the next 5-7 years. This is interesting seeing as those counties are not close to dauphin county, in terms of radio system coverage area anyway. Seems like a good way to have all those counties lose coverage if the system goes down, just my two sense.
