Is it possible to get the BCD325P2 to automatically power on and start scanning when connected to external power? My BC125AT does this, but I haven't been able to get the 325 to power on without having to hold the power key. I've also tried sending serial commands to the scanner, but while I can get the scanner to power off there is no way to power the scanner on.

the scanner uses a push button software switch not a rotary switch like the 995 series of scanners does.
Why would that make a difference? The 125AT is nearly identical to the 325P2 and has the same push button power switch, and powers on automatically when external power is applied.

What happens when you plug a 325P2 into USB power? It asks you if you want to charge the batteries.

The 125AT has a switch that enables or disables charging.

This is true. However, the 125AT and the 325P2 still behave differently in this respect.

Even with the switch set to "NiMH" and with NiMH batteries in the detector, the 125AT will auto-power on when connected to external power as long as the scanner previously shut off due to a low-battery condition (similar to the 436HP).

Additionally, if there are no batteries in the detector when USB power is applied, the 325P2 will just show "No battery", while the 125AT will flash "No battery" briefly before auto-powering on and scanning.

Bump @UnidenSupport

Still hoping we can get this functionality added back to the 325P2! Both the 125AT and the 436HP power on automatically with USB power, there is no reason the 325P2 shouldn't be able to!
