Postal Police, Bay Area

Does anyone know the frequency or frequencies for the Postal Police in the Bay Area and where they are located? I am very interested in them. I think they are just in San Francisco and Oakland but if anyone has more information about their radio frequencies/type or locations please let me know.

No, I'm talking about the uniformed division call "Postal Police", very rarley seen or heard of but they're around. Thanks though.

It now appears that the US Postal Inspectors are using a common NAC on their new P-25 repeaters. That NAC is 482, so if you are serching around the federal UHF (406-420 MHz) band and come across an encrypted frequency using a NAC of 482, that will most likely be the Postal Inspectors.

Postal Police are in the same band [406-420] as the Postal Inspectors.

As MtnBiker pointed out, spend some time searching those links. Some regions the PI is now P25 but the PO is still Analog. Manytimes they are Simplex [On-Site at a Large Sorting Facility] other times they are on the PI Channels when responding to Alarms at a Branch. They are ALL dispatched centrally [think it was down in TX]

There are a few others I don't know the locations for but they're known analog channels. Some of these may have been converted to P25. It's been a while since I've been to the sites.

I'm going by memory, but I believe the Postal Police are on 409MHz P-25 -- maybe 409.9375.

It's full-time encryption & I never had a chance to stalk one of them, so the 409MHz repeater channel is an educated guess based on times of transmissions, and locations of base tx sites (such as the postal facility at SFO).

I monitored the old USPS Police common of 418.300 for 8 years while living in the SF area and never heard anything on it, even though I'd regularly hear the PIS people.

Also keep in mind that the USPS has another entity with federal law enforcement powers -- the Office of the Inspector General.
