Power supply help

I have a pyramid gold series ps-14k that went into protection after having a device hooked up to it backwards.

Now when I turn it on (multimeter shows 12 volts) with no load it powers up fine but when I put any load on it the protection circuit goes back on. If its left on the beeping and blinking light get quieter and dimer.

What do I need to do to restore this supply into a working state?

Without looking at a schematic and doing a few other probe checks, I would suspect that a pass transistor has shorted in it.
You may get some other suggestions as well.

I'd suspect the protection circuit, rather than the pass transistor(s). The beeping and the LED are associated with IC2 and its associated components. (Schematic at Pyramid PS-14K User Manual (Page 3 of 4).)
