• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Does anyone know if Powhatan County Fire/Ems D1 is the same as Tac 1 or is Tac 1 simplex(no repeater) to D1. I want to program then in my scanner and doesn't know if I should program al four or just the 2. I am not trying to sound dumb just confused.

Thanks

Powhatan Co. VFD TAC 1

I am too far away to confirm actual simplex usage but my database lists 154.4300 mhz., pl 118.8 simplex as VFD TAC 1. Programing only 154.4300 mhz. should get you both operations. The upside is the user can hear both the repeater and simplex comms. The downside is when the repeater is activated it will temporarily "wipe out" any simplex comm. Powhatan is one of the few cities/counties which use a different a pl tone for some but not all conventional repeater comms. New Kent Co. is another one.
