• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

How do I move a frequency or site from E-3 to E-7? The site is not showing up in the available scan list.

You must set up the frequency on a knob/zone in E-7, each one on a separate knob. After it is set up in E-7 it will be available for a scan list.

RG, So if you don't check the Option for New Zone/ Knob you don't get to use the sites in the scan list.
Thank You for the help.

Not sure what you mean by "check the Option for New Zone/ Knob" but if you don't include them (program them) on a separate knob/zone you can not use it on a scan list.

Typically, what I do is put all my trunked/scan/search zones at the top, then create an empty zone and below that add all my single frequencies to monitor in the top zones.

I'm needing to redo mine here due to the way I like to scan and monitor. I travel a bit too much between 3 counties here and I need to refine it a bit. That's a great tip though.

What I do is use Normal Scan in some knob positions and put 6 conventional sites in the position. I just found it strange that I just couldn't add the site directly from E-3.

KB9, Put each county in a knob position then use the zone settings for anything else in that county. I know its a pain when driving to change the zones.

The issue is the frequencies in E-3 aren't set up to receive, are they P25, DMR, Analog, the program doesn't know, but when you specify in E-7 what the frequencies are then they are available for scanning.

One of our counties has different dispatch zones and depending on where I'm at I prefer that dispatch TG and there's 5 if them that cover different departments. Plus I still like hearing a couple of the state police TGs. I need to just create a zone for that county and then do the channel knobs for the different TGs which cover various police departments. Then likely another knob for a general purpose fire for that county.

Has anybody tried the Bluetooth connection in there car with the G5?
I have a 2019 Mazda CX-5 GT.
Be only time I tried it in a vehicle was as a co-workers truck and we got it to connect and it worked ok. None of mine are new enough to have that fancy stuff. This was in a 2016 Ford p-u we got it to connect in. I have used several brands of Bluetooth headsets and , my G5s connected as they should.
