I guess I must have done a Rip Van Winkle. What ever happened to printers with the parallel ports?
My printer is on the way out and I have been looking around for a new one and only ones made
anymore are usb or ethernet or now there also seems to be various wireless interfaces.

I guess I am gonna have to pick up an ethernet interfaced printer cause I have a huge dislike
for the usb printers.

Parallel is basically gone for consumer printers. It's all USB or Ethernet for networks. I believe a few HPs still come with them, but I'm not sure.

Why so hesitant with USB? Just need to remeber to install the software first, then plug the printer in.

Network is even better.

I have had experience with them in that they are not as reliable as a parallel or network printer.
The usb cord can easily be tugged out of its socket as compared to a RJ45 conn or parallel port
conn. Every time you turn a usb printer off (for whatever reason) it drops off of the pc's config and
sometimes to get it to come back I had to reboot the pc. To some people these issue's may seem
trivial but to me when I go to print a page its usually very important as I do not use the printer often.

Never had this problem with a USB printer. You may have something going on in the computer or the printer, or the software, or the drivers, or the service.

Hot glue around the USB type B connection on the printer then!
