PRO 106 Firmware Update question

I just finished placing an online order for a PRO 106 (my second 'go round' with this model) and should have it in my hands by the end of the week.

Anyway, I was wondering if the radios RS are shipping today (not a literal today, just meaning recently) include the latest firmware edition, or would I have to apply any updates myself before I begin using it?

I can't speak for the ones they are shipping directly to customers, but the last 106 left in the store I was in last week had the same firmware as my 106, whose date code is 02/09. The manager said all he knows is that is "must have come in after Christmas" as far as a date goes. I did not open it up to check the date code.

i check on this model in a gainesville fl store and it had the lastest firmware installed.

I've programmed a few scanners for others (106 and 197) and most came with firmware that wasn't updated to what was available at the time of purchase.

they probably ship ( from the store) whatever they have , could have older 1's in stock they have to sell what they have before they will order "new stock"

I picked up a PRO-197 a couple of weeks ago at the store (next to last one). It was at CPU 1.7 and DSP 1.3. I've since updated to 1.8 and 1.4 respectively.

I guess I'll just have to wait for it to arrive to see what version is installed, and go from there.

Mine has a date code of 07/09 and it also was 1.7 & 1.3 respectively. I have updated mine. I suspect most are this way.
