Only $299. Sale ends January 18. Wish I would have waited. Someone told me they want to get rid of the 106 in stock to make way for a newer digital model. Can anyone verify this?

There's no direct replacement for the 106 anytime soon. Don't feel too bad about the $299 price - instead, feel bad that it was only $249 during the holidays.

You might have heard rumors there. The '106 is a popular seller at Radio Shack, that is why they have the sale. And it is an online sale only. I look at the website regularly to see if there are any sales, and they have had scanners on sale now for over a month now, going back to Black Friday. But the radio is the exact same as the GRE PSR-500. They are made by GRE, just packaged differently.

It was 249 over Christmas and has flipped between 299 (what I paid on the 8th) and 399 on alternating weeks since then. I'm glad I got it when I did.

It's new... $299 through Jan. 18, and you can also get a programming cable for half price.

299 is a pretty damned good price for this radio. I have already bought 2 197's and a 106 when they've been on sale. Imagine, two digital radios for the price of one Uniden...almost

If you use Google Search you can find a more competitive price than the Radio Shack price of Uniden scanners. The Radio Shack price is at least $100 or more higher than I have seen using Google Search to find prices. Same with the GRE scanners, you can find them priced lower elsewhere.

Just a note. The Pro-106 is on sale again this week (1/31) for $299.
