Hi,
I recently got a used Pro 106 scanner. I purchased an 800 mhz antennae and a RS data cable. I used Arc500 and use the free download for the digital trunking frequencies and talk groups for San Diego County, CA. The scan appears to be working, but when it stops on a talk group, it is silent. I can use the scanner and hear on the WX and search functions just fine, but not on the scan. Is there a function that silenced the scan? Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi hexen11, welcome to the forums, finally. :)

I have to ask one very basic question.

Have you created scanlists for your scanner?

Thanks for the reply mciupa. I have created scanlists for my scanner.
I asked this same question of a young man who posted his pro 106 video on youtube (YouTube - Radio Shack Pro-106 Explanation and Review Pt 1/2).

He directed me to:
1. Turn on the scanner and press PGM.
2. Press left or right arrow until you find one of your programmed channels
3. Press F2.
4. Press right arrow 3 times and then press F3 (TSYS).
5. Press F2
6. Press down arrow 12 times until you get to "T Tables."
7. With T Tables selected, press right arrow until you get to "splinter."
8. Press F1 to save and go back.

His advise was spot on. My scanner now works great. The only flaw is with step #6, you must press down arrow 14 times, not 12.

Maybe there are other "newbs" that can use this process to make their scanners work too.
