I located a 100% Brand new unit for a close out price of $149.99. These scanners never appeared on the Radio Shack Website. So I started calling local stores and stores out of my area. I located one about one hour from where I live. So I took the drive yesterday. It was wirth the trip. I was hoping it was not a REBOXED Demo or returned unit which it was not. This scanner seems very rare since it never appeared on the Radio Shack website. It was only sold in the stores according to Radio Shack. Therefore a lot of people including myself did not know they were out there. If you want one, you have to start making phone calls to stores you might get lucky and get one while they are still around. They are disappearing Fast. To date I have never seen one on Ebay either only the Pro-433 which is its twin without alpha tags.
I also have the PRO-162 and I actually like it more than my GRE PSR 300. They both have pros and cons.
I don't know why Radio Shack is discontinuing the PRO-160/162 it seemed to be a Very short lived scanner only about one year if I remember they came out in early 2008.

Hi you won't be disappointed with it thats for sure. I have mine sitting on top of my Radio Shack PRO-2053 base scanner. Besides the PRO-2053 the PRO-160 is the only other base scanner with alpha numerics that has a large display. All of the others have the small display like the PRO-163, 2096, 2055 etc.

i got the last one in my city also and it is one fine non-digital scanner. ARC160 works great with it and the Pro 162. I guess the reasons it was discontinued will become clearer as newer products hit the market from RS.

One of the reasons I like this scanner is because it and the 162 are Uniden scanners that use the RS USB cable like my 2096, 164, 106, and GRE models do. One cable for all my scanners, yet I get the Uniden non-susceptibility to overloading.

Plus, I picked up both the 160 and 162 during the before-Christmas sale for $109, and $99 respectively (with coupons). What a deal!!

I just bought the last two Pro-160's in Tucson. They were clearanced for 99.97 each. I went for one but at that price I couldn't pass on both. I love it.
