• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

My local police just changed to 151.325 R D606 which I gather is "fmn", can I listen to this on a Pro-164? Currently I have it programmed in as "FM" as there is no "fmn" mode available to choose. If I leave it at FM will I receive the scanner traffic? Thanks?

The short answer is that you will continue to be able to listen to it.

Here's a thread on narrowbanding: http://forums.radioreference.com/general-scanning-discussion/7148-narrowband-fm-vs-fm.html
Thank you, yes it is working. I seem to have made a simple situation complicated. I had programmed the frequency in using the Win97 software, but I was doing 2 things at once and mistakenly plugged it in as AM, switch it to FM and all is well. Basically an ID10T error on my part ;-) Thanks again.
