Anyone know of software that will run under Windows XP that will control the OptoScan 456 (not lite version) installed in a Radio Shack PRO-2006?

what about something cheaper and that can control the PRO-2006? there's BCD396T Advanced Virtual Control software for that scanner and it's free.

If memory serves, that would be the Spectrum Commander series of software...there is also the original version of Radio Manager. Note, however, to record audio requires a seperate purchase of RecAll Pro version.

[edit] I'm pretty sure RadioMax also works with the 456 (you can download the manual free to be sure). John Catalano's recent MT review says it works quite happily with XP. I wrote a RadioMax review at Strong Signals using a 895; while it doesn't address Optoscan features, it gives you a very good understanding of what the software does. It has built in recording capabilities, and is a whole lot cheaper than the Signal Intelligence products. It's also a whole lot easier to edit the datafiles this uses than the horrible editor Radio Manager uses.
