Hi all, hope somebody has an answer for me.

My 2006 has developed a bit of a bothersome problem. The low battery beep won't stop. Tried replacing the battery checking to make sure it was connected etc. with no luck.

Anybody with suggestions or idea on how to stop the beep beep beep beep...ah, you get the idea.

Thanks!

You mean to say that the LOW BATT beep kept beeping even after you put in fresh batteries?????????? :?: If that's the case, I have no idea. I've never even heard of a problem like that.

Sorry.........

Yep. It started beeping so I replaced the battery. Still beeps. Also the battery that was in it wasn't dead as it turns out.

You might want to take it to radioshack and ask them. They might tell you they should send it to the service department to get fixed. :(

Sometimes the connector spreads open and makes poor contact with the battery. Another possibility is a broken wire in the connector. Use an Ohmmeter to check for broken connections as they are not always obvious by just a visual inspection.

Any luck yet, this is a late reply. As a last resort, you might also try re-setting the scanner. I didn't pull out my manual, but as I recall this is a feature with this scanner. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

The reset didn't work.

I eventually found the wire that controls the beep audio and cut it. It stopped the beeping but replaced it with a pause similar to having the priority on. So if fixed it...permanently. I tossed it into a snowbank in the back yard. Hasn't made a noise since.

I just posted this to another thread 5 minutes ago:

I have a PRO-2006 (bought in 1993 I think) that was cell blocked but I just clipped the diode and unblocked it. I do have a new problem with it now though. After about a year of neglect in my garage plugged in the outlet it must of got wet somehow. Any way the back up battery went out and it lost all of its memory . When I turned it on the numbers on the screen only half appeared. I figured it was trash. But after letting it sit for about 6 more months all of the numbers now appear and it actually scans. BUT, the battery indicator keeps blinking and beeps along with it. I've replaced the battery. It won't stop. Can anyone help out there?

Well I don't feel so lonely now that someone else has the problem.

This is the method I used to disable the beep.

Remove the top cover of the unit.

Locate the 15 pin (i think) wire connector--There are two one with fewer wires and one with more. You want the one with more wires.

Unplug the connector from the circuit board of the scanner then pop or cut the GREY wire (8 in from the left).

Plug it in and give it a try. No more keybeep, no more dead battery beep. But the batt will still be on the display and there is a blank instead of the beep so it will sound like the priority is on all the time.

This is the drastic method and is likely the path you will need to take if you have checked the battery connections for opens etc.

Let me know if you need other info.

Thanks for the directions. However I'm thinking about letting it sit for another year unplugged. That method seemed to fix its other problems.

I realize this is an old thread, but I had the same problem, and found this post first via google. Later found the following, and was able to fix the exact problem without side effects. Just in case another suffer'er comes across this old thread like I did..

Thank you soooo much for the info, My Pro 2006 has been beeping for years!! I would put tape over the speaker and books on top to quiet down the beep LOL so I just never used it. Now I have another working unit. :)
