Welcome to Radio Reference!

The PRO-2037 owner's manual shows a BNC type antenna connector on the rear of your PRO-2037 scanner. Page 6 in the manual has a paragraph heading of "Connecting an Optional Antenna" to that rear BNC terminal on the right side of that page (continued on page 7). If your external antenna cable ends with a PL259 type connector, you will also need a PL259 to BNC adaptor. If you no longer have your manual, you can download one here:

:) Hi, doesn't your 2036 have a 'BNC' antenna connector on the back of the scanner? :)

.

So are you saying that the PRO-2037 that you have is different than the one shown in the PRO-2037 owner's manual?

Are you sure you actually have a PRO-2037? Can you post a pic of the back of your scanner showing the model number?

i have a pro2035 with the same setup and i do screw an antenna in once and a while.
i have a motorola 150Mhz antenna laying down on its side under the TV screen, so it is not in the way, and it still works fine.

The OP mentioned a RS SKU of 20-9461. I think that's a European SKU while the US SKU is 20-461.

Is it possible the UK version with the 20-9461 SKU did not have the external antenna jack? I've probably only seen the US version so I can't say.
I couldn't come up with an owners manual for the UK specific version using the 20-9461 SKU, everything just returned the manual for the US version.

That's what I suspected. There are two RadioShack part numbers for the 2037. One is the USA version and the one you have is the European version. I couldn't find a copy of the European owners manual to see if the external BNC jack was not on that version. It seems odd that it would not have the BNC jack as they were all built by GRE but perhaps there was some restriction in the UK when that model was sold.

Kind of the same thing with scanners here having the old analog cell phone frequency range blocked while oversees versions are often unblocked.
