I was considering purchasing a Pro-2045. My main objective is to listen to Mil air frequencies. Is this a good scanner for this??? Should I get a stronger antenna???

Thanks

An outdoor antenna - fed with the right coax - is a must in the world of milair (you can get away with attic antennas - I have for years - but your range will suffer...). We have many scanner antennas linked in our Wiki.

One of my milair scanners is a Pro-2045 and I find them very sensitive and a great radio. They do have a limited 200 channel memory, but with several different radios it is no problem. I think you will like the radio.

One thing to watch for; the Milcom equipment wiki listed a
review
on the 2045 by Rich Wells on the Strong Signals website. He did notice some weak images (more likely mixing products, since images are not easy to generate on a scanner that has triple conversion) in the VHF Civil air band. Otherwise, he generally liked the scanner. Check out the link (in blue) for more details.

[edit] Our wiki has a page which cross references numerous scanners, their wiki page (if they have one), Strong Signals, EHam reviews all categorized by the kind of scanner (mini handheld all the way to PC based receivers). If you're interested in other scanners, this is the place to start.
