Does anyone own the Pro 2051 and use it for a base station? How well does it perform? Also, is there a way to reset the scanner so that all the preprogrammed frequencies will come back? If you have any photos of this radio in your shack, please submit them.

Yep, I do.

As I have it configured, it performs very well on the VHF-HI band that I'm most interested in ( Railroad ) and quite well on most everything else.

Yes, IIRC there is a sequence of keys that you can hold down when you turn the scanner on that will reset it to factory defaults. It's in the manual, you may want to go to the Uniden web site and download their manual for the BCT8 scanner. It's very nearly the same scanner as the PRO-2051, but the manual is a LOT better written.

Your comments regarding the manual make me wonder...if Uniden makes the PRO-2051 enhanced clone of the BCT-8 for Radio Shack, why would they screw up the manual? It sounds as if someone else makes the radios for both of them. Then Uniden, and Radio Shack publish their own manuals.

I use the pro-2051 as a base with an outdoor antenna. I like this unit more than I thought I would once I figured out how to program it.

To reset the unit, have the unit off, press hold, 2, and 9. Turn unit "on" with push from tongue. You will see the word CLEAr on the screen.

To reload original 150 channel banks, have the unit off. Press 3 and E and turn unit "on" with any convient toe. You will see the channels reload. Then you can enter your state code and program them in automatically.

I reset my unit, then just loaded the chennels I want to follow. I have both Motorola and Erickson trunking in my area. EDACS was hard to figure out from the manual but after trial and error, it works.

This unit has kinda relit a fire for my ham license. Ham channels are just dead unless there is a storm, then you can't get them to shut up. HF side is somewhat active at times, if there is a contest going on. Otherwise, guys talking about their antennas...

Have fun with your radios...
